PMC 17
Dharamveer Sambhaji Maharaj Prathmik Vidyalay, PMC 17, is a government school that Idhant has adopted for skill-building workshops. It is located at Navi Peth, Pune and has over a 100 children of standards 1-7. Idhant mainly works with 70 kids around standards 5-7.

We started with a simple Origami workshop with the kids, where we showed them how to make several animals with the help of the old Japanese art style. We then taught them how to make a marketable paper bag. This experience with the kids was a lot of fun and it marked a beautiful beginning to our continuing relationship with them.

idhant's early days
Idhant organized a one day workshop for the kids of the government school, Dharamveer Sambhaji Maharaj Prathamik Vidyalaya. Our invited chief guest was the corporator of Navipeth Mr. Mahesh Ladkat. We wished to provide a fun-filled workshop for the kids by arranging the beginner-level origami workshop which included:
1. Start-up: Animal Collection
2. Intermediate: container box
3. Finish: regular origami envelope

COmputer workshops
Idhant organized a workshop for the kids with the aim to get students familiar with the basic technology of computers. Laptops were brought by the team for children to practice on the day of the session of the workshop. We also conducted a small crafts workshop at the end of the session. The Volunteers training session was conducted before the event. The contents of the session were as follows:
1. Introduction to computers
2. Introduction to a different application in a computer
(Word, PPT, etc)
3. Introduction to MS Paint

We observed that the students were very keen to learn more about computers, so, a second session was conducted with different content:
1. Thirty-minute revision of Session 1
2. Introduction to MS Word
3. How to write their basic introduction
4. Thirty-minute Practice Session
5.Thirty-minutes Make Your Own Envelopes session
With the third session of the Computer Workshop, we decided to include a little difficult content since the kids were well aware of using a computer. The contents of the session were as follows:
1.Introduction to PowerPoint: Teach the kids to make a PPT.
2. Show them the use of Google and the Internet to search for information/images
3. Practice PowerPoint Session for the kids.

Team Idhant observed that the kids were lacking in terms of speaking basic English. Hence, Idhant introduced a two day English workshop for the kids. A volunteer training session was conducted prior to the event. Each volunteer was provided with course notes and the notes were also distributed among the kids. A paper craft session followed the English session.

The session included:
1. Alphabets and Phonetics
2. Numbers
3. Calendar
4. Relationships
5. Occupations
​
On the second day, the following contents were included in the session:
6. Colours
7. Animals
8. Fruits and Vegetables
9. Flowers
10. Common objects in the classroom
Along with these topics, road signs were also taught to the kids and at the end of the session.
